Flat Racing Steward Position

Applications for the position of flat racing steward at Assiniboia Downs, Winnipeg MB for the 2007 and subsequent seasons will be accepted in writing up to November 29, 2006. The season runs from the beginning of May to the end of September.

This is a union position, and successful applicants will be required to join the Manitoba Government Employees Union. Salary and benefits are commensurate with the level of experience, and are competitive within the industry.

Applicants must have a minimum of two years recent experience as a Steward or Steward-in-Training; must be Accredited through the Racing Officials Accreditation Program or be eligible and willing to undertake Accreditation; must be computer literate and familiar with standard word processing programs; and must have good oral and written communications skills.

MANITOBA GREAT WESTERN HARNESS RACING CIRCUIT, INC.

RACE SECRETARY/CHARTER, 2007

The Manitoba Great Western Harness Racing Circuit, Inc., which conducts Manitoba’s rural-based summer meets, is seeking applications for the position of Race Secretary/Charter for the 2007 season.

Reporting directly to the President, the Race Secretary is responsible for developing a competitive race program covering 22 days. Also included are the qualifying races which are held two weeks prior to the start of the season. As well, charting of the race card each weekend is a requirement.

If not already fully qualified, the successful candidate for this position will have until April 1, 2007 to be fully licensed by the Manitoba Horse Racing Commission and Standardbred Canada and be familiar with all aspects of the position and charting.
