The Manitoba Horse Racing Commission was created in 1965 by the province of Manitoba to govern, direct, control, and regulate horse racing and the operation of all race tracks in Manitoba. This includes Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse, Standardbred, Arabian, and Appaloosa racing. At present the Commission regulates a major race track in Winnipeg ( Assiniboia Downs ) and a number of rural tracks scattered throughout Manitoba such as Wawanesa, Deloraine, Holland, Glenboro, Portage la Prairie, Killarney, Miami, Minnedosa, Dauphin, and Rossburn.
